Nigerian Army Polo Association Hosts Armed Forces Day Tournament at Abuja Guards Polo Club
The Nigerian Army Polo Association (NAPA) hosted a three-day polo tournament at the Abuja Guards Polo Club in commemoration of Armed Forces Day. The tournament brings together serving officers, polo enthusiasts, and members of the wider military community in a celebration of discipline, unity, and service.
The competition features teams drawn from key military formations, including 6 Division, 7 Division, 4 Special Forces Command (4 SF COMD), TRADOC, and others, with top military officers actively participating in the matches. The tournament highlights polo as a regimental sport that reflects the structure, teamwork, and discipline of the Armed Forces.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Chairman of NAPA, Major General A.G. Laka, emphasized the importance of showcasing the regimentality of the Armed Forces through polo, a sport deeply rooted in military tradition and values.
Also speaking at the event, General Buhari, popularly known as “Brazo,” described the tournament as a celebration of serving personnel and a moment of remembrance for gallant officers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the course of serving the nation.
